Is that claim based on a line in the game I missed/forgot or a comment from someone who worked on the game? Everything I have heard suggested that Q being implied to be Sean was just marketing materials misleading the player, just like 999's marketing materials referring to Zero with male pronouns and VLR's OVA showing young Sigma on Rhizome-9.
I am completely open to the possibility that I missed evidence of Delta mind hacking Sean, but as far as I am aware, Delta was never confirmed to be able to mind hack a computer, and I have concerns about inserting unsubstantiated fan theories into the wiki.
It's fine, I'm not in the mood for an edit war either.
My reasoning is that Delta has the ability to Mind Hack, and Sean is a specifically designed robot made by Delta. The Team is called Team-Q, not Team-S. It's possible that Q means "Quantum", or "Team Quantum" so to speak, and since Sean is the basically the quantum computer, the computer could have been designed for Delta to mind hack into it (and by extension, Sean). There is also the theme of toxoplasmosis (a force that subconsciously controls one's actions).
I realize that it's only a theory, but there is no other explanation. Your claim that Sean being labeled as Q in promotional materials was "only to mislead and means nothing else and has no other significance" is also currently just an unsubstantiated claim. It implies pure dishonesty of the ZTD development team, but I still have faith in them. There's been a lot of meaningful thought put into some of the promotional materials (such as trailers saying "9 people kidnapped against their will"). For example, while Sigma may be inaccurate in the anime, he also has grey hair and a light in his eye on the cover.
Wikis are meant to analyze. The blurb is harmless, short, and I strongly disagree that it doesn't deserve a mention. It's food for thought which I think is a highly valid and possible theory and explanation. (And please don't retort with a silly false equivalence which comes out of left field and irrelevance, such as "If we allow this, then this wiki will allow anything.")
This "absolutely no fan theories are allowed on wikis" is absolutely impossible to work around on Wikia, since there will always be analysis, speculation and theories of some sort. Trying to remove every instance of "It's possible that ___", just for the sake of trying to establish a "no speculation/theories" rule, is futile. You should probably learn to deal with it. I changed the "probably" to "possibly" for you.
There's a lot of unconfirmed possibilities mentioned on the wiki you never bothered to complain about such as:
- Sean possibly being a GAULEM
- Sean possibly having knowledge to help Eric and Mira if they were stuck on a puzzle
- Sean possibly being ?
And there are many others on many different articles. But Sean possibly being Mind Hacked by Delta is the one that sets you off?
Re. wiki practices: Most of the other unconfirmed theories are noted as such (or, at least, the ones I remember were). The original version of the mind hacking theory (the one I took issue with) did not seem to imply it was a theory, which is why I reached out to you to ask whether it was confirmed. The new wording states it is a theory, so that complaint is no longer an issue.
Re. your comments on the theory: Obviously you could be correct since it seems we have no evidence either way. As I, personally, see it, the team was called “Team Q” because “Q” was the name by which Delta was known to the other DCOM participants, and he was the leader of that team. I concede that the letter Q has carried multiple meanings in past ZE games, so it would not be unprecidented for that to be the case here; I just personally think it is unlikely.
Having said that, “pure dishonesty” in promotional materials is also not unprecidented. You are correct about the subtle hints on the front of the VLR box, but the back still shows young Sigma in the character line-up. The “9 people kidnapped against their will” line could also be considered misleading since Sean is arguably not a person (and was not kidnapped from DCOM) and Q/Delta was not kidnapped against his will.
Sorry if I seemed hostile initially. I do sincerely enjoy hearing about and debating new ZE theories.
I'm glad we settled it then. You have no idea how many times I've heard some variant of "WIKIS ARE FOR FACTS AND FACTS ONLY". To me, it sounds like "ADAM AND EVE, NOT ADAM AND STEVE".
I am someone who values theories, critical thinking and analysis, and have no problem if they are reasonable, kept short, and marked as such.
Also, the original version was, "The reasoning for this is that Delta is probably Mind Hacking". I thought the usage of "probably" was enough to make it clear that it's an uncertainty. If anything, I'd call this a bias.
I am certainly not an “ADAM AND EVE, NOT ADAM AND STEVE” person in the slightest. I have had bad experiences with people mixing unsubstantiated claims with confirmed facts, but I am sorry if I overreacted to the phrasing of your Delta avatar/“Team Quantum” theory.
Because we're trying to be a professional wiki. I'm fine with listing that it's not on the New Zealand shop, but there's many things wrong. We can't put "I" on the wiki, say there's millions of fans of the series in ZE, claim there's billions trying to get it released, mention suicide, or have it as the very first thing people read when viewing the article.
Someone posted something really wierd on the discussion board this morning, here is the link for quick reference, http://zeroescape.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:16223,I tried to translate it but it was a bunch of gibberish, maybe I'm overreacting though, but it seems suspicious.
Hey there admin, I'm an admin in Danganronpa Wiki, and I'm interested in affiliating with the Zero escape wiki, I see that you don't have them in the main page the template for the affiliations, but if you dare have it would you be interested in affiliating with us? I'll be more then happy to affiliate with you. :)
Alex, I noticed that you added some pictures to quotes within the "Humorous Quotes" sections of a few escape room articles. I think that this is a good idea, but shouldn't we hold off adding them until we have a picture for every quote? It looks kind of awkward with pictures for only a few of them, especially because those sections are usually pretty lengthy.
The thought of taking pics for every quote gives me a migraine. It'd take a LOT of effort. I honestly don't think it doesn't that "awkward". I think you should just take a deep breath and deal with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, I mean since it would take a lot of effort to get it to ideal point where every quote has a picture, wouldn't it be better to just not have the pictures for the quotes at all?
Just having the picture for one or two quotes in the "Humorous Quotes" section leaves a lot of space in between or around each, which is kind of awkward in terms of organization and spacing, don't you agree?
Actually, I think keeping the captions is ok. If you want to go through with this, then we have to find a couple of quote screenshots for every escape room to make it uniform across the wiki, right? It wouldn't be consistent formatting if we only had it for a couple of the escape rooms articles.
Honestly, I think you're being a bit unreasonably OCD. 99 percent of readers won't care. Consistency is nice, but it's not always necessary. There's other stuff on the wiki that could use more attention. If it REALLY bugs you that much, then I guess you could remove all images.
Gber brought something up to me earlier, and I was wondering what you thought about it. Should we make a note somewhere of there you switch to Novel Mode automatically in 999? I've already started writing the places where it happens down, and I'm curious if you think we should do this and, if so, where.
I also think we should have a suggestion list where we recommend the player switch to novel mode for atmosphere. I was disappointed that certain parts of the game did not automatically switch to novel, such as during the opening of Door 5 and the detailed explanation of the 9th Man's body, as well as during June's breakdown in Door 3 because the text adds so much.
Yeah, there were several parts where I espected it as well, and it just never happened. They definitely underused it. I've already gotten an ending, and it was only used 4 times. So, where should we put them?
I honestly expected them to do that for some things. There are a lot of times where the narration explains something that would be unexplained if it was gone, and that aren't big enough to require a switch to Novel mode.
Alright, I'm working on the flow chart now. It should be done in a few days. I deleted the pics you uploaded since they're not necessary anymore.
Overall, I think the 999 remake is pretty good. I have a few minor gripes with it, but I think the developer team did a good job with what they were given, and I don't think I should be nitpicky. Some of the psuedoscientific stuff was a bit cringey this time around - I have a lower tolerance for that stuff now. The flow chart is a god send, and all the pros of the port outweigh the cons. The voice acting was decent.
I'm plowing my way through VLR now, since we need to find out if Akane and Diana's voices were replaced.
Also, who the eff is Snake's voice actor? The credits say "Morphogenetic Field Voice", but I think that's either an inside joke or a typo.
Remember, the credits of ZTD listed the uncredited voice actors as "Morphogenetic Field Voice"? That was the same. That's why I wrote that as Snake's VA, I didn't remember if that was what was put for the unknown ZTD VAs
Yeah just explain the mechanics of locks there. The locks are never really talked about and gfiven a name by the interface or in the story itself so I don't see the point. Just explain what they mean in the flowchart article or in the gameplay sections of those respective games.
It probably represents them, but I have a couple of theories about Delta myself so don't add any of them.
Delta is the first winner of the original Nonary Game and is Gordain's true successor. That is likely why he is able to become powerful enough to create Free The Soul and get the backing. He is also likely the friend that Gordain tells where Allice is. That is likely how he is able to meet Hongou and get Cradle Pharmacuetical on his side as the Nonary Game he was a part of was likely run by Delta.
As I mentioned before these are all theories, but they seem to make the most sense given what we likely know about his character.
